All,
For those of you who might be interested, I have released the DANCE
software (http://www.magix.ucla.edu/dance/) which allows you to run
physical simulations on animated characters, perform ragdoll simulations
with collisions, and easily write physical controllers for walking,
falling, standing and so forth. Simulations can be exported as motion
capture files (.bvh).
The software is free, and all the source code is included. It runs on top
of the Open Dynamics Engine, and allows you to write ODE code
directly from the interface (so you could load in motion capture, then
write out ODE code for simulating a character based on the structure of
the motion capture skeleton.
Regards,
Ari Shapiro
