[ODE] compiling ODE in Visual Studio .NET 2003

(sorry if this is  a faq, I certainly looked around and could find no 
message about it)

Hi,

I am trying to compile ODE using the prepared project in the VC6 directory.
I have Microsoft  Visual Studio .NET.
When compiling I get a lot of errors of the form:
c:\Download\ode-040712\include\ode\ode.h(28): fatal error C1083: Cannot 
open include file: 'ode/config.h': No such file or directory
When I check, the file is there. My own theory from browsing the web is 
that this version
(but be warned, I usually use Linux and is a newbie using Visual Studio)
of Visual Studio is not allowing #includes with a .h on the end. Has 
anyone else had the same problems?
Is there a simple fix?
