The accuracy with which your computer character should
mimic the real human is not clear. It could be a silly
puppet or it could be a full anatomical detailed human
model.
If you are making a puppet, whose joints can be
ball-socket then that's fine. you can actually hang
the HEAD from the ceiling using thread/spring then
forces can be given to legs for moving forward. Also,
some torsional springs may be required at the ball
joints to give it some default relative angles.
But, making a real human character I suppose is more
complicated and I have no Idea how it's done at the
moment.
