[ODE] Bad to reset simulation state?

There is something else I'm not quite sure of if I mess things up here.
Do the simulation steps ( in this case the quick stepper ) require
additional informations besides position, velocity, momentum and so
forth? I ask because in my current system I reset the state on a
collision to add the right contact joints. Now if the stepper would
store additional informations that I'm not aware of this could result in
troubles.
