[ODE] Sphere/Trimesh not working

My sphere/trimesh collisions aren't working. As soon as the sphere
touches the mesh it shoots out the other side instead of boucing off. 
Box/trimesh works, as does sphere/box.  Has anyone seen this before?
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

This is using the cvs as of Thursday, single-precision mode, on
Windows with VS2003 in case it matters. Any suggestions appreciated, 
I'm stumped.
