it's a reordering, but it's not random. Alen at crotem suggests a
reordering based on solving equations with the largest absolute error
last. it has a measurable benefit in some cases, but in other cases just
slows things down, so i've left the reordering disabled for now.

i also tried random orderings, but they had little benefit.
