[ODE] Objects falling through planar trimesh

Hello! I am working on integrating ODE into an educational game engine. The trimesh collider works reasonably well with boxes and even moreso with spheres. However, I have found that if the trimesh is planar (which often is the case with floors), boxes and oftentimes spheres tend to fall straight through the mesh, even with a reasonably low ERP and a low timestep. Has anyone else run across this problem?
