[ODE] Changes required to compile libode.so...

Hi all,
   Can anyone point me to the information on how to compile ODE as a 
shared object under Linux? The default Unix-gcc makefile compiles to a 
.a file. What changes to the the unix-gcc file need to be made to get it 
to compile as a shared object and be named libode.so.
