if you're talking about the box-stack demo, this bouncyness is
intentional. if you want no bounce, set contact[i].surface.bounce=0
in the demo.

are you using the latest CVS version? 0.03 is prone to popping. there
will hopefully be a new 'official' ODE release sometime soonish. if you
are experiencing popping with the CVS version, i would appreciate a test
case that illustrates this.

note that there is a box-stacking problem caused by insufficient contact
points being generated, i am also hoping to fix this up soon.
