Actually the control sequence is pretty easy, you just don't know how many
attempts it took to get the critter to roll over and get back on it's
feet in a single movie!  :-)
 
I'm using a Sidewinder joystick, and the 'throttle' lever controls the
crouch/stand movement.  If you slap the throttle from low to high, it
jumps into the air.  It usually does a half-roll before it hits the
ground, but it's hard to predict...  You can control the 'roll rate' a
little bit by stretching or extending the legs in mid air, and that's
about it.
