i'll be on holiday until next wednesday, so i thought this might be a good
time to mention that a certain amount of list moderation goes on behind
the scenes:

  * posts from non-members are not allowed (although some are approved by
the moderator). this is the primary mechanism to stop spam (about 1
spam/week on average).

  * messages > 20kb must be approved by the moderator.

...so while i'm away, no non-member posts or large messages will get
through.
