I have a multicore system in the pipeline and am a bit curious about
this myself. I found a bit of discussion in the archives -- don't have
the link handy, I'll try to locate it -- about possibly exposing the
island processing loop, with the idea of allowing each island to be
processed by a different core. As far as I know, no action was taken.
I'd be curious to hear other approaches as well.
