[ODE] ball keeps rotating that has contacts below and above

Hi,

This is a special case of 'rolling resistance'; as the contacts in real life are never perfectly 'single-spot', but they are in ODE, it is normal. :o) 
Usually applying some amount of constant angular damping to the bodies solves both the lack or rolling resistance and your problem. It's simple, used commonly, and may also help a bit stabilizing the system.
