I have my suspicions about this change to configure.in:

r955 | kwizatz | 2006-05-12 05:27:50 +0200 (Fri, 12 May 2006) | 1 line

Removed problematic X include and library path inclussions into CFLAGS CXXFLAGS and LDFLAGS.

Nowhere on my cmd line, X11 is included, even though the configure
run reports that:

checking for X... libraries /usr/X11R6/lib, headers /usr/X11R6/include

I think that $x_includes should be used, after it has been set
by AC_PATH_X
