Agreed.  Actually it was generally thought that the bottleneck
presented by the fairly closed development was what was discouraging
developers, but the UNSTABLE branch has existed for several months
now, and, apart from some patches which were already floating around
at the time the branch was created, hasn't seen very much love.

I think ODE is basically a pretty specialist area with plenty
of people capable of lightly pecking at the codebase but very few
developers who are confident (and available) enough to contribute
something deep and radical very often (it does happen sometimes,
though).
