I see.  So the 'old build system' needs fixing in UNSTABLE
before the x86_64 patches can be moved across?

I'm not sure it's desirable to actually remove the old
build system.  For one thing, autotools are a pile of woe
and misery when cross-compiling (configurator.exe is hardly
ideal in that respect, but is an almost trivial hurdle).  What
do others think?
