Hello All,
I have finally found some time to create a small web site for XODE and
also a XODE Viewer capable of viewing and validating XODE files.
The Viewer displays 3D representations of the ODE geometry that is
parsed. It uses Odejava (http://odejava.org/) which is a OO Java
binding for ODE. The reference XODE parser is also part of this
project and is licensed under a BSD-like license - its source can be
viewed here:
https://odejava.dev.java.net/source/browse/odejava/odejava/src/org/
odejava/xode/
The new XODE site is here: http://tanksoftware.com/xode/ and the site
for the viewer is here: http://tanksoftware.com/xode/viewer/ The
viewer is launched using Java Web Start so its very easy to use use.
It should work on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. Java 1.4.2 (no older
versions) MUST be installed for this to run correctly. That is the
official site for XODE now and will remain so for the indefinite
future, please update your bookmarks and links.
The viewer currently has 5 bundled example files. I would love to
include more so if you have any, please send them to me. Anyone who
has created a parser is also welcome to submit their URL so I can list
it.
The XODE Parser is still beta - there are some deficiencies (such as
setting the correct mass). The XODE Viewer has the potential to have a
lot of extra features. I probably won't have the time to add them,
beyond a fly-cam so if anyone wants to take it and run with it, they
are welcome to. Source code is provided. It could even be made into
an editor similar to ODEEd - but hopefully ODEEd could instead have
XODE support added as it is already very functional.
Regards,
Will.
