Today NovodeX published Rocket on their website as a free download
(www.novodex.com), which features PSCL (Physics SCripting Language) which
I had a hand in designing. The language is an attempt at creating an open
standard for physics scene definition in such a way that it’s not bound to
a specific physics engine. The language can be executed from a command
line, from a batch script file, or from within another scripting language
like Lua, making it extremely robust. There is also importers and
exporters for a XML version of PSCL and KAT.

Other cool things that are available in Rocket are the ability to
automatically generate rag-dolls from artist data, reduce meshes into
optimized boxes, or convex hulls, and of course all the cool demos that
come packaged with Rocket (all of which use PSCL).

One of the demos I whipped up is a series of Trebuchets and Catapults
flinging spheres and rag-dolls at a brick wall.
