Actually, I'd vote for Jeff's solution, since it's a bit simpler.

Someone really does need to get the fixed joint up to speed.  Between 
the slider, the hinge, and the ball & socket, there's enough example 
code.  e.g. take the "non-rotating" aspect of the slider, and the "fixed 
position" part of the ball and socket and combine them.

It'll help people out...
