  Okay - sorry that this is so obvious, but it gets me every time:

  Is it Russel with two "l"s or Russell with one "l"?

I'm speaking without checking, but I've only ever seen it spelled "Russell".
I think that's because "Russel" is too close for comfort to "mussel". ;-)
