[ODE] display problem

I have succesfully installed and used Open Dynamics Engine on a linux
machine (Red Hat 7.0).  However, once a program using the library is
exited from, all further ODE programs fail to display.  The simulation
appears to still be functional, but the display is a black screen.
The only way I currently have to solve the problem is to exit and
rerun X-Windows each time I want to run a program.  If you have any
insight into this problem it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you
