ok, i finally got my variables right.  i have another
question though.  i got my rotation matrix using 
const dReal dBodyGetRotation(bodyID)
and then i got the values using a 
dReal matrix[12];

i then to transfer it to a dMatrix3 rotation_matrix

and use dBodySetRotation(bodyID,rotation_matrix)

however, i'm not getting the result i want.  

is there any way to get the euler angles from the
if i'm using it on a car just on the chassis body
after i attach everything else is that ok?
is there any reason for this not to work?
