thank you for all your help.  i know it will be better
for me to create an app and just use the mfc there
however, this project has been finished 3 months ago
and my friends and i didn't use mfc.  we only have a
menu.  however my professor wants me to add toolbars
or at least something the user can click on to make it
easier for them to use it.  its kind of tricky
changing an existing program.
