A very good thought, actually. I have been thinking a little along these
lines too -- perhaps too little. The problem here is that we haven't
thought this bit though when designing the engine, and such a solution would
need a serious ammount of redesigning.
Basically our design was to do all simulation, both network and dynamics, at
the object / body-part level, and that higher level entitites only exist in
the animation system (server side) and the AI (client side) which have
little - to no ties to networking.
I will try one more time to get my current body level scheme working, but if
it fails, we may well have to do something as you suggest.
